Hi everyone!

The new trend edition from Essence is on the horizon! It will be available on the shelves from December 2010 and it’s called Fairytale. As you can imagine this collection sparkles a lot :) In the collection there are as usual the nail polishes, eye shadows, lip glosses and eyeliners. I made some swaches of polishes, lip glosses and eyeliners :) I have to say that I really like the design on the packaging – fairies, butterflies and flowers.

******

POLISHES: there are six polishes in this collection. Polishes are sparkling and they have shimmery foil-like finish. When I saw the promo picture I wasn’t exited about any shade. They just didn’t seem special but when I tried them on, I liked at least three of them. The formula is ok, I didn’t have any problems with application.

Fairy Berry: is a warm toned purple color with a lot of silver shimmer, which gives the polish that foil finish. Two coats are needed for full coverage. On the index finger is Essence Bubble Bubble from Into The Ocean TE.

Humpty Dumpty: this one is one of my favorites. It’s gray color with splash of purple and with loads of silver shimmer. I love it! It takes two coats for full coverage.

Once Upon A Time: this one is the only one that doesn’t have a foil-like finish. It’s medium red jelly base with red and gold glitter that give the polish a lot of depth. It’s similar to China Glaze Ruby Pumps but it’s not a dupe. It’s opaque in two coats.

Pixie Dust: nude color with hint of pink and a lot of silver shimmer. It’s nice, subtle polish which is opaque in three coats.

Tinka’s Dress: peachy orange color with silver shimmer. Another nice and soft shade which is opaque in three coats.

Welcome To The Wonderland: is a light lavender color with a lot of silver shimmer. I like this one on my nails. Needs three coats for full coverage.

LIP GLOSSES: there are three lip glosses in Fairytale collection.
Fairy berry: light purple base with purple shimmer
Once Upon a time: red jelly color
Pixie Dust: clear base with multicolor shimmer

Do you like anything from the Fairytale Trend Edition collection?

Orly Shine is pure silver color with shimmery foil finish. Like Luxe this one is also super sparkly. It takes two coats to achieve full coverage.

Orly Shine:

*****

I wanted to go over the top with the shine so I added two layers of OPI Paris Couture For Sure Top Coat. At this point my nails were holographic and ridiculously sparkly. I couldn’t take my eyes of them.

*****

To finish it off I added the Konad design from image plate m50 with a black polish. I have to say I love this mani very much on my nails.

Have a nice time!

Nfu Oh 61 is the best silver holo I have ever seen! This one is truly a holo madness! :D It’s the most holographic color I have ever worn and I love it! The only thing I regret is that I don’t have Nfu Oh Aqua base, so the application was a night mare. I tried applying it over different base coats and even without it, but polish is always causing me problems with bold spots and streaks. At the end I carefully applied three thin layers without base coat. And it was worth it!

Nfu Oh 61:

I made a ruffian with Barry M Indigo. Indigo isn’t the right color on the pictures – in person it’s more purple.

Have a nice time! Lyra :)

Yaaaay! I got the polishes from the Essence Metallics collection! :D OMG, OMG!! Why are they so special? Four of them are magnetic!

The only thing I have to criticize is the Essence magnet :/ It’s sucks! It’s not strong enough and it’s really hard to get close to the polish, without touching it with the magnet. You will have even more problems if you have very curvy nails. Here is the result with the Essence magnet on the color wheel:

******

I’ve done all the swaches of the magnetic polishes with Alessandro magnet :)

Copper Rulez! is my favorite from this collection. It’s gorgeous even without the magnet effect. It’s dark warm brown base with a lot of bigger orange and golden shimmer. It’s really a perfect color for the autumn.

Iron Goddess: here you can see the difference between Alessandro and the Essence magnet. I used the Essence magnet only on my index finger. The color of this polish is medium brown with silver shimmer.

Metal Battle: this is the only polish in the collection that is not magnetic. Its black base with blue shimmer.

Nothing Else Metals: is some kind of washed out golden olive color with silver highlights when you apply the magnet pattern. It looks nice and it goes well with my complexion.

Steel Me: this polish is a lot thicker than the others in the collection. It’s shimmery silver color with darker stripes when the magnet pattern is applied.

My boyfriend had a suggestion to try with these polishes – the Buckyballs (little magnets). I tried it on Nothing Else Metals and Alessandro Wild Purple. The pattern that came out is really nice :D It looks like some kind of grid or snake/alligator skin. The Buckyballs are so strong that you don’t even have to hold them very close to the polish.

In the Metallics collection there are also lipsticks and jumbo eye pencils.

And here are the swaches of the jumbo eye pencils:

What do you think about this collection? I think that Essence did a really good job this time by releasing the magnetic polishes. They are still cheap and the finishing look is chic and modern. I’m sure that very soon more companies will start making such magnetic polishes :)

Hello! :)

Here is another Barry M polish for you. Lavender Blue is nice medium gray shade, with lavender undertone and silver/lavender shimmer. The finish is frosty. It’s opaque in two coats.

Barry M Lavender Blue:

I got Barry M Instant Nail Effect, better known as crackle polish for free. I decided to try it over Lavender Blue. This is my first crackle polish, so I was pretty excited. I really love the effect! I think I’m a new fan of crackle polishes :)

Have a nice day! :)

Yaaaay! You can already buy new Essence Fashion Nail Stickers! :) To try them out I bought four different patterns. There are 14 stickers in a package. Here they are.

Light Forever!, Catwalk!, Unexpected! and Trust Me! :

*****

The first one I tried out was Light Forever!. A long time ago I was searching for a perfect silver chrome polish – one with a perfect mirror reflection, but unfortunately I haven’t found it. Naturally I got excited when I saw nails sticker Light Forever! It’s not chrome like Minx foils, but it’s still very shiny.

Before you put the stickers on you have to buff your nails. Placing and centering the stickers wasn’t a problem. But getting rid of those wrinkles was! And on a chrome color like this, they are very visible. By the time I got to my ring and pinkie fingers I figured out how to do it right. You have to stretch the sticker a little and rub the wrinkles out. Next time I will try to heat the sticker somehow (hairdryer, radiator, …)

The next problem I had was filling of the excess sticker. You can buy a nail file which is indented for those stickers – but I think the normal file will work just the same. I used the Essence file, and filed vertically (only in downwards direction), but the edges still looked sharp. The imperfections are visible on the photo, but not so much in person.

At the end I used one layer of top coat. The tips started to lift up the same day, after 9 hours. I recommend the stickers just for special occasions if you want a special pattern or look. They are just for short term use – when you want all eyes on your nails, because they aren’t durable longer.

Have a nice time!

Finally I had the time to swatch China Glaze Vintage Vixen. This is just a half of the collection, because I’m still waiting for the other half. I got this from Tiffani. Thank you a lot! :)
And here we go.

Bogie: eggplant purple shade with multi colored shimmer. It’s vampy, sparkly and it’s NOT black. Love it!

Foxy: brownish red color with orange and red shimmer. Totally perfect for autumn.

Hey Doll: pinkish brown color with red and silver shimmer. Very unique color.

Ingrid: taupe brown with golden shimmer. I really like this one.

Jitterbug: Very dark gray shade with tons of silver shimmer. This one is very sparkling!

Swing Baby: metallic champagne color with a lot of silver glitter. It has a foil look.

The application was okay, I didn’t have any bigger problems. Only two shades (Foxy and Ingrid) are a little bit runny, but manageable. With runny I mean that I was sure I didnt have too much polish on the brush, but then suddenly a big drop came out of nowhere. All of them need two coats for full coverage and they are well pigmented. The colors are perfect for autumn and I like all of them.

Have a nice time!! :)

Hello everyone!

I’m wearing Finger Paints Passionate Purple, which is darker warm purple color with purple and pink shimmer mixed in it. It’s opaque in two coats.

Passionate Purple:

I was playing with sponge nail art again :) First I sponged with Milani Hi-res and then with Nfu-oh 61. After sponging I stamped all-over flower pattern from Konad image plate m81 with China Glaze Grape Pop. I decided to put fimo dragonfly on the ring finger. I love the result!!

Have a nice day!! Lyra :)

5Jul

I’ve been wearing different color combinations of ruffian manicure for the entire week. Here is a silver/blue combination. I used Essence Rock’n’Roll for the base and then go over with Deborah 03 Mat, which is dark navy blue matte shade.
